Expedition to the South Pole
Spotted one of my (ex) team-mates in the news recently, it’s about 2 Singapore women having been shortlisted from 80 applicants for an expedition to the South Pole. One of the 2, Lina Goh, was my senior when I first joined the national team, and we went for the sea games in the same team. I vividly remembered her as one tough woman, who can combine the BEST of the 3 worlds as a dragonboater – fast runner (one of the fittest in the team whether it’s long or short distance), and a girl who can carry tons of weights no matter what kinds of weights you give her, and one of our top, strongest left rower.
NEWS: Two Singapore women have been shortlisted from 80 applicants for an expedition to the South Pole. They are Lina Goh, a senior engineer, and Sophia Pang, a freelance fitness instructor and IT consultant. Both are aged 36. But eventually, only one will represent Singapore in the Commonwealth Women’s Antarctic Expedition. A total of eight women from Commonwealth countries like New Zealand, India and the United Kingdom aim to reach the South Pole on New Year’s Day 2010.
